Healthcare lecture on understanding the Hispanic culture

NORWICH — The William W. Backus Hospital will host an educational conference on “Understanding the U.S. Hispanic culture for more effective healthcare interventions” on Thursday, May 22, from 3-4:30 p.m. in entry-level conference room 1-2.
Marlena Vega, ACSW, PhD, Founder and Director of Sobrevivir/A Will to live in Bronx, NY, and cultural diversity consultant, will present.
Hosted by Department of Psychiatric Services, the program objectives are:

Aim to strengthen communication between healthcare providers and their patients

Enhance the experience of both providers and patients

Provide techniques that might enhance the patient-provider relationship.
The conference is free and open to the public, and is provided by an educational grant from Astra Zeneca.
