What is CONNCare?
CONNCare is the Occupational Health Provider affiliated with The William W. Backus Hospital. CONNCare offers area employers a broad range of medical services, including prevention, screening, treatment, and management of work related injuries and illnesses.
As an affiliate of Backus, CONNCare is committed to delivering high quality comprehensive occupational services to employers throughout eastern Connecticut. Our goal is to provide timely and efficient services which improve employee health, wellness, and productivity for our client companies.
What services does CONNCare offer?
CONNCare provides a comprehensive array of occupational health services including:
- Supervised by a Board Certified Occupational Medicine Physician with 16 years experience
- Rapid evaluation and management of work-related injuries and illnesses with an emphasis on early return to work.
- Work-place walk-through with expert consultation on compliance with OSHA Standards
- Employment-related physical exams
- Preplacement in full compliance with the ADA
- DOT
- Respirator clearance
- OSHA Standard mandated surveillance
- Fitness-for-duty
- Drug-Free Workplace
- NIDA DOT and non-DOT urine drug testing with Certified Medical Review Officer
- Breath Alcohol Testing
- Employee Assistance Program (EAP) for counseling and rehabilitation
- On-site clinics for physicals, drug screening, immunizations and injury care are available

From Bradley International Airport Windsor Locks, CT:
Follow airport signs for I-91 South. Follow I-91 South to Hartford; watch carefully for SHARP left exit to Route 2 East. Take Route 2 East to Norwich. Exit right onto Washington Street. Pass the hospital entrance on the right. Take right onto Lafayette Street. ConnCare is on the right, next door to Utley & Jones Pharmacy.
From the Groton area:
Take I-95 South and go over the Gold Star Memorial Bridge. On the New London side of the bridge, take Exit 84 for Route 32 North. Follow Route 32 to I-395 North. Follow I-395 to Exit 8I East for the Routes 2 and 32 connector in Norwich. Follow the connector until you exit to your right onto Washington Street. Pass the hospital entrance on the right. Take right onto Lafayette Street. ConnCare is on the right, next door to Utley & Jones Pharmacy.
From the New London area:
Take Route 32 north to I-395 North. Follow I-395 to Exit 81 East for the Routes 2 and 32 connector in Norwich. Follow the connector until you exit to your right onto Washington Street. From the Westerly, Rhode Island area:
Take Route 2-North/West to Norwich. Route 2 becomes Washington Street in Norwich. Just before hospital entrance, take a left onto Lafayette Street. ConnCare is on the right, next door to Utley & Jones Pharmacy.
From the Providence, Rhode Island area:
Take Route 6 West to I-395 South. Follow I-395 to Exit 81 East for the Routes 2 and 32 connector in Norwich. Follow the connector until you exit to your right onto Washington Street. From T.F. Green Airport, Warwick, RI:
Follow airport signs for I-95 South.Take I-95 South to Exit 5A for Exeter, RI. At the end of the exit, bear right onto Route 3 South. Remain on Route 3 until caution light at intersection of Route 3 and Route 165. Go right on Route 165. Stay on Route 165 (you will cross RI-CT line) until it merges with Route 138 WEST. Follow Route 138 West until you reach I-395 South in Griswold. Take I-395 South to Exit 81 East for the Routes 2 and 32 connector in Norwich.
