On the Cover:

The family on the cover of this annual report is a real-life example of the impact Backus Hospital has on our community. Karen Leffingwell was a patient in our Critical Care Unit, which received a statewide award for reducing its central line infection rate to 0%. She is now able to enjoy life, and spend time with her two daughters, Emily and Maya.
